Arsenal pre - season so far ....

Arsenal as usual started off its pre-season giving lot of oppurtunities to its youngsters. It was a nice oppurtunity for fans like me to get an idea of the work going on behind the scenes with regard to the youth development programmes within arsenal. And am i pleased or what to see the likes of Bendtner , walcott and co. really improving over last year and relative unknows (don't think they will be unknown for long if they play the way they are right now !!) like Jack Wilshire and Nacer barazite really grabbing their oppurtunities. Wilshire has impressed everyone so much that he has been drafted into the first team squad after his exploits against Madrid and co.

Well coming back to the pre-season , as they say pre-season is more about jelling in and gets into the right physical condition than about the results. But even at these early stages the season ahead looks very promising indeed. As i mentioned earlier , Bendtner looked like a different player and i mean different in a positive sense. He showed good touch and finishing and i feel we have a lot coming from him this year. Another player who impressed everyone was our mexican wonder kid Carlos Vela . It has been a long wait to see him show his talents for Arsenal but the wait seems to be worth it. he looks to be an absolutely fantastic player. He has all the attributes to be a top - top player. He has blinding pace , great technique and his coolness infront of the goal belies his young age.Walcott as usual was bit hot and cold and i still feel he will be used mostly as a sub on the right hand side of the midfield. Hopefully he'll get some games when the FA cup comes along.

One of the main talking points throughout the summer has been the Central Midfield position and for me its still up for grabs.I personally would like to see Diaby be given an extended run in the team. Although he is still not the finished item , i feel he is pure class and with his physique he can command the midfield with no problems what so ever.

Two players i was really looking forward to seeing in the first team this season were Nacer barazite and Fran Merida. Both are exceptional talents and i'm pretty sure they will both turn out to be cracking players. From the pre-season the only thing that still worries me is the defence. It looks fragile and i don't see too many players the opposition would be scared of. Moreover we seem to be very susceptible to counter - attacks lately. Hopefully that part of our team will be taken care of before the season starts well and truly.

One player i forgot to mention till now is the 'major' acquisition we have made this summer. Nasri for me is a very talented player with an eye for a pass. Once he settles into this team he'll be an asset for sure.

Its a young team which has players with good experience and if the players remain injury free during key periods of the campaign then i see no reson why we can't be fighting on all fronts. If there is one player that i am really looking forward to watching play in the premier league then it has to be Carlos Vela . I personally rate him very very highly and feel he could add a lot to the team.

Looking forward to a great season of pure football pleasure !!

And talking about the new season well its less than ten days to go !! In my next post i'll be giving an overview of the season ahead, the main transfer activities within the major clubs over the summer and what all to look forward to this coming season as an EPL fan. Can't wait for it get started !!

An intro to the blog !!

So here i go!! Finally realizing my dream of writing a blog about my beloved football team - Arsenal F C.
What many people don't realize is how huge football especially The English Premier League is in these parts of the
world, and my aim is to give an outlook of a fan (Huge one at that!!) who may not be able to support his team by
going for all their matches , but sure as hell does everything possible to watch all their matches live on telly .

So what is it about Arsenal that i , unlike most Indian fans , chose to support the gunners instead of Manchester
United which by the way is easily the most well supported team in India (I guess as its my blog i can very
confidently say that Arsenal is the second most followed football team in India and is catching up real fast !!) ??

Well the first thing that really got me attracted towards Arsenal was the Free Flowing football the team played.
Players like Thierry Henry, Patrick Viera , Pires and Bergkamp conspired to play the game in its most elegant form
!! That truly was a great team !! Watching them play would make you forget about all other stuff in the world !!

Arsene Wenger has to be one of the biggest reasons that i support Arsenal .He is such an awesome tactician and a
very shrewd man manager too !!

The other thing that was amazing about the club was its stadium - Highbury. Man there was something magical about
the place !! I know that we had to leave Highbury for obvious reasons and we have moved into what is arguably the
Best stadium in England , but i still can't forget the last match at Highbury , the result and the celebrations
thereafter were fitting for that amazing stadium.

Well above all these reasons the most important reason and ironically the most "Long Lasting" reason has to be the
amazing history of Arsenal F C . History and culture are things that are not made overnight and i can't seem to
remember any club which has the same rich history that Arsenal has !! And long may it last !!

Well coming back to the blog , i want to make it pretty clear that this blog is about all things Arsenal. Its for
football fans in general and all Arsenal fans in particular. Its my way of saying a big “Thank You” to the club
which means so much to me.

Hope you guys have a nice time reading my posts!!
